How our time duration calculator works

Select the "Between two dates" tab to calculate the interval across days. Enter start/end dates and times, click Calculate, and the result displays in days, hours, and minutes.

Use the second calculator to add or subtract days, hours, minutes, or seconds from a starting date and time. The result shows the new date, time, and day of the week.
How to manually calculate a time interval
- 1Determine start and end times — e.g., 08:30 AM and 04:00 PM
- 2Convert to 24-hour format — 08:30 AM → 0830, 04:00 PM → 1600
- 3Subtract start from end — 1600 − 0830. Subtract hours, then minutes separately.
- 4Handle any borrow — If minutes go negative, borrow 60 from the hour column.
- 5Result — 0730 = 7 hours and 30 minutes
